Intro to Sign Language

A 3-Week Foundational Course in American Sign Language (ASL)

Have you ever been curious about learning sign language?

Many online resources do a great job of teaching individual signs—but they often leave out something essential: how American Sign Language actually works. Because ASL is a fully visual language with its own grammar and syntax, it’s often misunderstood as simply a signed version of English—but it is so much more than that.

This short, 3-week course is designed to give you a foundational understanding of ASL structure and communication. By learning how the language works, you’ll be better equipped to understand, retain, and confidently build on what you learn—whether through online resources or continued study.

In this course, you’ll learn:

  • The basics of ASL grammar and sentence structure

  • How ASL differs from English

  • How to better understand and retain signs you learn elsewhere

This is a fast-paced, “crash course” style class, so each week builds on the last.
